I spent a fair bit of time with the Sgt Maj when he was posted to a unit in Wales. He was a top, top guy and very sadly missed. He showed loyalty to those who sometimes didn't deserve it, was firm but fair, had a great sense of humour, was great fun to be around and an absolute tiger in the field.
