Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I had no clue where to post this article and thought that this may be the best place to put it (PTP may beg to differ) because of its roundabout connection with military history. Clive of Plassey's pet has just died in Calcutta. Not earth-shattering news, I'll admit, but a living piece of history that's no longer with us.

  2. How sad,
reading in the article that the tortoise had been presented by british matelos in the 19th century, and had died of liver failure; It probably could be traced so easily because of the enlarged rectum, and rum addiction.
  3. Gosh - the last survivor of the Seven Years War?
  4. That would put him at about 100 years old when Henry Tombs won his VC during the Indian Mutiny, God bless him!
