Americas Army - the game

yeah i was told about this game about 2 years ago, it has good graphics and is not bad to play apart from all the traing (first aid tests lol and the MOUT house is a pain in the arrse).

Battlefield 2 is better but i have vista now and can't seem to get online.

Any pc guru's with an answer?

agreed, right-click the desktop icon and on the Advanced tab, set to run as Administrator and run in XP SP2 compatability mode ;)

Will run fine after that.

I'm a beta tester for the game (edit: America's Army, that is). If anyone has any questions, I could probably answer them, as long as the it wouldn't violate my NDA.

Damn, this is probably a bad place to make my first post. But I haven't been through many yet, and it's the first one I came across that I thought I could add to...

:king:

I've been playing this game on and off for about 2 years. Love the game, it is a recruiting tool yes, and they're now doing something which is called VAE (Virtual Army Experience) which is the frame of a HMMWV kitted up to the game on a big screen. http://www.americasarmy.com/
You can play, upon completing all training, as Special Forces, Regular Soldier, or as Indigenous Forces, although i wouldn't recommend IF.

The game was also designed to inspire 'soldier like' attitude etc etc..

Hence the reason if you slot your mucker you find yourself in Leavanworth for a wee while ha ha..

Its quite good but if your all enjoying that then definetely check out Counter Strike which is much better and more rewarding.

I ditched it for Battlefield 2. Not bad but it's a bit creepy and propaganda-ey.
That said it's not as disturbing as that Royal Sigs Winds of Change flick I had to watch on TAFs 1 the other week......

So we had army recruiters come to The Citadel... or should I say a load of hired models in skimpy outfits who just stood around while us and the AROTC staff thrashed each other on computers with the game on.

Becoming typical of US recruiting, absolutly no usefull informaion whatsoever, just flash and awe, gets annoying when you're actually trying to ge some info to make an informed decision.

In 5 years they'll just hand out beer and porn![/quote]
