America - its all a bit odd...

For me its the places that arent tourist honey pots - the next relative/visitor that asks me to get escorted to Hollywood/sunset blvd/walk of fame will get ejected into skid row.
Without tourism, a lot of places wouldn't exist. Though, I do agree with your pain about fam and friends who expect you to be instant tourist guide.

I think you would wilt like a lilly, if you had to live here for more than a week. Ain't no Weatherspoons or WIFI in the boonies.

Maybe no 'Spoons (which I will miss, BTW), but am sure I can hold my own. I can hold a gun or two and shoot some. I did after all used actively to hunt deer.

p.s: no more 'Spoons for me from today! My Wifi has just been installed! Even if I am only here for 2 or 3 more weeks.

I might enjoy this entertainment....
Can I bring a lawn chair?

Then can you field dress, and drag a carcass???

@redshift

You said as a student you hung out in Ann Arbor. In Ann Arbor there is a Blues bar just off Liberty and it's always packed with students, I'd say anyone who has ever been to Ann Arbor has visited the place. Would you happen to know the name of the bar?

The bar has been going well before I arrived here and it's still going today.

Please do..not sure for what.

I certainly can gut some venison, if that's what you're are asking. Been a while, but you know, if you've been doing a while, it's like getting back on the bicycle.

I have never enjoyed that area - and 99% of people who have gone come back and say 'why didn't you tell me it was that crap'?

Real L.A and C.A doesnt involve Hollywood in my opinion.

Why are you avoiding my question at post #9686

Off to take the dogs out now, should give you time to Google Blues Bars in Ann Arbor.

You have been in the U.K., for 9 years. I imagine the struggle would be real.

How many Americans do you know that would use the word "gut" rather than dressing out a deer? Not even the British use the word to describe gralloching a deer. Fish are gutted, deer are dressed or gralloched.

None.
It would be interesting to watch him start and finish one.

But what choice of rifle would be use? What kind of glass would he bring? Any LRF to use?

You wish. Doesn't mean I haven't been to the MI hunting season every other year fella.
My wife is a Michigander from the Petoskey area, her family is still there. Her brother lives down in Allen. Michigan/Petoskey/Charlevoix area is where we first lived when we came to the United States. I've done a fair bit of hunting and fishing in Michigan.

Where abouts did you hunt in Michigan? Where in your opinion were the biggest bucks to be found.

Most people would go to “deer camp”.
I don't...can't stand being around the slobbering drunken cnuts after legal hunting hours.
