I unfortunately was at
Amazon for a year. Its an all consuming, tiring, thankless environment to work in and that was as an Ops Manager. I hated it, I hated how people preached leadership, teamwork and all these other little buzzwords yet wouldn't know what those words meant if they were to punch them hard in the face (as I found myself coming close to with afew of the managers on a number of times)
Yes it pays well, but thats where anything good about the company stops.
They issue you a laptop and a smartphone and with that you are expected to check emails and be contactable all the time. Its like being on QRF... Forever.
The staff that actually enjoy working there are the ones who are millionaires by virtue of how many RSU's they've been awarded (Amazon Stock is $750 a unit) as they've been with the company that long, or the socially akward weirdo's that have no life beyond work.
The agencies they employ for manning don't pay their staff on time, the ground staff work long, hard shifts for crap pay, short breaks and little reward, and as managers we can't do anything about it because 'They aren't our employee's"
I hated working there that much that I refuse to use any of their services since.
Mark and avoid.
