Hi basically I have tinnitus (mild) in the right ear, more sensitive to noise.

Nothing specific is said in the JSP about tinnitus so i presume I would only require some sort of earbuds on FTX.

Any help in answering would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi all,
Was hoping for a bit of info in regards to the pre commissioning course medical. Essentially I passed the main medical but did get defered for one thing related to BP got a monitor all was fine simple a case of white coat syndrome or so they said. I was wondering what does the medical at the PCC course entail? If it was tagged again will the fact it has already been shown not to be an issue sort it out there and then, or will I again get defered.

In normal circumstances it wouldnt be an issue but problem is my general medical clearance is due to lapse not long after the PCC I am due to attend, as it will be 12 months since the medical. Meaning I would have to go through that entire medical process again and probably miss the May intake. On top of that due to start a job that as a result of advanced payments they will be making to me makes it quite difficult (though not impossible) to extract myself from the longer I stay and unfortunately I am not in a position (financially ect) to leave until I get the all clear.

In short what does the PCC medial entail shorter/simpler version of the main one or the same? Is it possible to fail or get defered even on issue that have been previously clarified? I was told that PCC is essentially just a formality and the only thing to keep on top of was fitness. Anyway thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Good day,

I have a condition called mallet finger, my ring finger can't curl / bend all the way in as it is stiff from the middle knuckle. I if I make a fist it looks like I'm flipping someone off. Would this disqualify me during medicals?

I can still grip weights, do pull ups, push ups on my knuckles etc.

I can understand not being eliga1ble for divisions or regiments that have a strong emphasis on hand to hand training but are there any I might be eligible for?

Hi Everyone,

1st time here. Does anyone have access to the updated JSP 950? I believe it's version 1.4, released in September 2018?

Thanks a lot

Yes. V1.4 differs from the 2016 version only in two parts, JMES, (which is not relevant to potential recruits) and Annex L Psychiatry. If you don't have psychiatric issues, just use the 2016 version. If you do, I will try and post just Annex L on its own, once I can extract it from the rest.

I have just been contacted by the army about them not having received my PHCR. I was never asked to provide this so Captia obviously messed up yet again.

Just have a question as to what this is for and if it signifies some sort of red flag that's come up with me medically that the army want to look into further. Have spoken to a few other people I've met through the selection process and they were never asked to supply one.

Cheers

Isn’t the PHCR the one the doctor sends? Or is it the one they ask you to fill in right at the start?

It very well could be, I got sent the RGMD at the beginning of the application process and had it sent back within 2 weeks. That form had to filled in by my GP, essentially just asking if I currently suffered from anything. Also included an optometrist report.

The PHCR seems to simply be a print out of my medical record. Not sure if it was supposed to be delivered to my GP via me or not.

I just had to fill out the online one and give permission for my GP to send one. Has the GP sent the one the army requested? Had to keep pestering mine to send it and that was when they’d already had a month.

One of my eyes currently looks like this.
I've not been hit or anything like that. Could stress cause this?

So when you say ‘the army’, who exactly do you mean?

Yes you can.
Hi,
Jumping on this thread as need some advice and can’t seem to find another way of getting on... newbie!
I have just had my Army application turned down on medical grounds as I broke my leg at the beginning of this year. I am fully fit and have a letter from the GP (who is a bone specialist) to say that I am fully healed and he sees no reason for me not to be able to join the Army and do all normal activities. I also have a letter from my physio to say the same. The Army have cited the reason as potential for early Osteoarthritis because of break. I want to appeal this, I am 20 and physically fit, I feel it is unfair to say that I could get a condition because I may not and also if I did it may not happen for 30/40 years, who knows. How do you think I should approach my appeal. I need to get the letter sent off by next week, so any constructive help would really be appreciated.
Cheers

This is nothing to do with Capita and everything to do with your GP.

A letter is sent from your ACC to the GP requesting they complete the RGMD and send the PHCR - it is even numbered: 1) Please fill in tbe RGMD 2) please send the PHCR.

Clearly your GP hasnt read the letter and has just sent the RGMD.

You need to speak to your GP and ask them why they chose not to send the PHCR.

Capita are certainly not perfect but this problem is your doctors fault.

ALL Regular Soldier candidates have their PHCR requested from their GP, anybody who tells you otherwise doesnt understand the process and shouldnt be listened to.

What you fill in right at the start are the consent forms.

You are giving your consent for the Army / Capita to access your medical records - you sign one consent form for the RGMD and one consent form for the release of your PHCR. The consent forms are then sent your GP.

Thank you for the reply. Annex L would be really useful to me. Have you been able to extract it?

I posted further up in the thread and unfortunately I was binned for having sciatica, even though I can run 5 miles, do dead lifts etc no problem. I'm appealing, seeing how it goes.
Have you got anywhere with your appeal yet? I’ve just received my p8 letter ‍♂️
