That's the one. I remember thinking at first it would be absurd to arm a traffic warden but then I thought that with society having collapsed maybe he would be an ex-serviceman and so roped in and handed a weapon and told to get on with it, whatever, it was an extremely evocative scene.
Weren't traffic wardens part of the police at the time of filming, as opposed to being council employees today? That could explain the rifle.

there was one, the torpedo, in Cork harbour and parts of the installation still exist. Wasnt it a Norwegian one that was the only one fired in anger?
No one used it apart from the Army and I'm not aware of any fired in anger. A practise launch from Cliffe Fort did hit a steamer in the Thames and sank it.

Another type of reasonably successful monorail was invented by Louis Brennan.. it was gyroscopically stabilised, and in some versions used the flywheel as a power storage device..

Brennan is also interesting in that he invented a wire guided torpedo that was used for harbour defence. These were operated by the Royal Engineers and there used to be one in their museum. There were some fitted to forts and harbours on the south coast and one installation still exists in Hong Kong in a cave underneath the Hong Kong museum of coastal defence at the north end of the harbour on HK island. Worth a visit if you are there!

The wires not only steered but transmitted power to the torpedo from a shore mounted winding engine.

When I was in blue serge, the traffic wardens operated out of out Police Station, used Police radios and the Police radio network, but were not 'part of the Police,' they had their own command structure and were nothing to do with us. It was for their protection and of course it was an extra pair of eyes on the ground with instant access to a copper.

Million percent better than the fucking drones that work the streets today.

I do hope that you were being facetious when you made that remark, the ones around where I work just seem to wander around as though they don't have a care in the world and I haven't seen one issue a ticket in ages!

Don't confuse Parking Attendants/Civil Enforcement Officers (Council owned) with Traffic Wardens (police owned). I doubt that there are many TW's left now as they have become PCSOs or gone to the yellow lines in the sky.

I'll bet they never got their money from the casino though.

I really don't know mate though I believe you are correct given the history of casino ownership and some of their offshoots. I was told by one casino manager from one of the indigenous tribes that they never have any bother with outside influences.

They're just quietly buying back America one bit at a time.

Although I confess my BMI is well north of where it should be, I still have to say, how the feck do you let yourself get in that state?
Which State is it in?
I'm reasonably confident that it is in America but could not be certain which of the fifty states it occupies inhabits.

No names, no pack drill.

One does not rat out ones best pal ever.

When asked about it all she says is the other girl kept pushing her aside and taking her stuff. She told her to put it back and the other girl pushed her and she landed on her arrse. When she got up the other girl wished she hadn't got up.

She also told her Mum and Dad that there is no use talking to a bully because they won't listen and she has believed that for a long time. Both her and the other girl have been sentenced to home learning for a month.

Hopefully when they are both back in school the other girl, (hopefully with the help of her parents) will have learned a life lesson all be it the hard way.

It looks like The Chicago Cubs badge on his hat so that may narrow it down to Illinois but hey let's face it, it could be anywhere.

How sure are you about that?
