Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. The dominance of Sky's TV rights 'maybe' fading due to serious interest from the Qatar-owned TV network, the tender opens in the spring, so some possible decent competition opening up for the consumer possibly?

"The fight for the next three-year *contract is due to start in the spring and will be tougher than ever with the Qatar-owned TV channel said to be *weighing up a move. Al Jazeera has already entered the French market. It screens Ligue 1 games and from next season it will also show the majority of Champions League matches on TV in France".

Al Jazeera could bid for Premier League rights | Football

  2. It doesnt seem likely but even if it did happen, they would end up bidding against each other and passing the extra cost on to the consumer.

  3. Well lets wait and see with the state of the markets and less cash to go around I'll bet Sky would have been lining up to offer less this time around. The FA will no doubt be chuffed if they do stick a bid in. But it's only football I've got a life and dont really give a ****.
