Airport X-rays

#1
Can anyone tell me if airport X-ray machines can damage i.e. wipe or partially wipe magnetic tapes, e.g. audio or video cassettes

In short, yes. Audio cassettes and VHS are more prone to magnetic by product than the miniHD type video. You could always invoke Google.

??? Surely not? Photographic films, yes, but x-rays shouldn't affect magnetic media; possibly if there's a FOGB electric motor under the belt. They x-ray laptops I believe (????never travelled with one) without wiping the magnetic hard discs, so why would magnetic tapes be affected?

There's no magnetism involved in X-ray so I doubt it

They'll be fine, have you told your daughter or are you just going to dump them on her . Parents are considered the universal storage area.
