Aid Workers Held Over Assassination Plot

Three Italian charity workers have been arrested in southern Afghanistan over an alleged plot to assassinate a provincial governor.

Nine people were arrested in total after suicide vests and improvised explosive devices were found at a storeroom in Lashkar Gah hospital.

Helmand's provincial governor, Gulab Mangal, said the operation was funded by the Afghan Taliban based in Pakistan.

"They were planning attacks in Lashkar Gar and the number one target was myself," he said.

Daud Ahmadi, a spokesman for the Helmand government, said the facility had been under surveillance for a month. Police acted after "material" was delivered there on Saturday.

The hospital is run by the Italian charity Emergency which employs the three arrested workers.
The arresting officers have calculators, bank details and Paypal Accounts all ready to return them. The Italians should have remembered the little detail about paying people off, they always want the payoffs to continue coming one way or another.
Some (only some) of these aid workers are real scum.
