Interesting, I would have thought the NYPD powers that be would wish to buy American, or do these H175 have some form of unique feature set?
Its not mil, so does not matter, half of if not not 2/3 of US airborne law enforcement is dominated by Airbus Helicopters H125 (AS350B2/3 Astar) .
Airbus Helicopters Inc (formerly American Eurocopter ) based at Arlington, Tx and Volumbus MS, is big. They also have assembly factory for the H125 for a few years.
Homeland Security - Customs Border Patrol Air & Marine Branch have large fleet of Astars (my photos from Air & Space Expo 2019 Joint Base Andrews).
And they got new x 16 airframes
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Air and Marine Operations (AMO) will enhance its patrol and surveillance capabilities with the addition of 16 new Airbus H125 helicopters.

Anyhow below my photos of LAPD ASTRO (Air Support To Regular Officers) H125 at Heli Expo 2020 Anaheim
San Bernandino County Sheriff Dept departing Heli Expo 2020
Then TbT to 2018 I visited LVMPD Air Support to see their ops as previous year at Heli Expo 2017 I saw their new H145 (replacing the old Air Force HH-1H pair. Anyhow here are,y pics of their kitted out H145 , which be the first one for airborne law enforcement in North America at the time.
Now New Mexico State Police have H145 and Riverside County Sheriff
Speaking Of Rivreside County Sheriff here’s my photo of their Astar departing local Airport also last year post Heli Expo 2020
LAPD ASTRO and LA Sheriff Department Aero Bureau have between them the largest Fleet of Astars in USA.
And as I have mentioned in the Puma thread my photos from Heli Expo 2013 Las Vegas of LASD Aero Bureau First Super Puma (dome up by CHc Heli One in Vancouver).
Since late 60s whether it’s been the old Sud-Oust then Aerospatiale and BO105 then Eurocopter and now Airbus Helicopters have had a heavy presence in USA With all segments of the marketplace. And in the last 4 decades they served airborne law enforcement marketplace in USA, go back Another decade earlier and the Alouette III started the HEMS. A
And recently Houston PD which has been traditional Md Helicopters customer ( as well as briefly having Bell 412 for SWAT ) suddenly got delivered an Astar
The Houston Police Department’s newest helicopter brings new meaning to the "thin blue line", while honoring one of its own in the aircraft’s registration.
