Age and Effect on Promotion later in Career

Hello,

I have seen various forums that have endorsed older candidates joining the Officers from an age range +30. My question is not so much can it be done, but whether joining the army within the age range of 23-27 has a drastic impact on competition for higher ranks as one promotes up the chain. Is it such that those who join at 22 will have a considerable advantage over Officers that have joined at 25 when it comes to the pointy end of things - eg. competition for Staff Ranks?

On a more personal point, would the fact I have prior training as a Reserve Infantry Officer in another ANZUS force have any impact?

Cheers

Particularly no as Programme CASTLE opens up serving possibly to 60.
Some promotions are currently linked to how many years you have yet until retiring at 55 but you wouldn't worry about them until you were mid 40s.
