Right sorry I have resisted for too long and can do no more, right I'm off on Herrick in a few weeks down South, obviously there's limited operational experience of down there, just wondering if anyone who has been down has any advice on extra kit to get hold of, I'm talking more about stuff for the field rather than welfare side of things, welfare's squared away. Just anything that helped you out on the ground.

  2. Kinda hard to suggest things not knowing what the current ammount of kit being supplied in theatre is like and also your role.
All I can say is a decent med kit cannot be stressed enough. CAT tourniquets and the new FFD's are quite good. These were all in short supply last year. Hopefully these have been addressed by now though.

  3. Hello,

You might be interested in purchasing one of the desert scarves that the Afghan people wear. I believe they are called a shemagh or kafiya, not sure if my spelling is correct.

    Best Wishes,

  4. I'm not sure if you're on this planet.

  5. I think Fallschirmjaeger will be your best bet for a decent kit list, apologies to anyone who is out there at the mo, just that I know he's just come back.

  6. I'm sure.

    He's not.

  7. Cough up on your boots and get a good sturdy pair. I wore my lowa's. They were hot but not too hot. The underfoot is shockingly rocky so avoid being a big girl and going down with a twisted ankle.

Also looking at things on the news lately its getting worse. Might be worth getting hold of a few spare mags!!! With more ammo than you can carry you'll be thankful. Pouches for UGL rounds etc. Take into account that Osprey is here to stay now so gucci pouches for that if you plan on wearing it as your webbing webbing.

  8. Saw a photo of yanks with a 40mm grenade cartridge belt, a la shotgun, that holds a fair few rounds. Might be an idea if using UGL. Could save having loads of little pouches everywhere.

  9. Vanguard at ukkitmonster.co.uk do one as well.

  10. and have a look at their pouches for osprey

Boots shouldn't be an issue apparently money was made available to purchase meindl desert foxes from somewhere. I will have to try and get in touch with fallschirmjaeger then, there must be a few others off 16 though?

  12. Pouches for your kit wait until you get out here (the locals make them for peanuts) likewise all your kit you can pick up almost everything in theatre cheaper than the UK apart from porn!

  13. Are you a fecking walt?

The ammunition is issued in a belt, one that is much better than that piece os sh1te, as the one issued protects the rounds as opposed to just showing it off.

  14. Not being funny but the kit dont make the man.

Concentrate on soldiering rather than buying kit. If you need it you'll get it!
