Is it me, or did 'the powers that be' withhold the announcement of the death of the 200th serviceman in Afghanistan until the 201st had happened? I might just be being cynical and untrusting of our glorious leaders, but that is how, to me, the reporting appeared over the weekend. I know numbers aren't important - every death is a tragedy (and in this particular theatre, sadly, pointless). But I think the MoD/New Liarbour Spin Machine wanted to dilute the news and wrong foot the media who, no doubt, would have had a field day with their headlines. Tragically events have overtaken even this with the news of three more men killed since.
