What Unit you with?!
I got back a couple of days ago, as for kit i had a warrior rig and daysack!
In my rig i carried 4 mags, plus smk, phos and frag and a utility pouch with as much med kit i could fit into it!
Everything else put in your daysack!

Shurely you should know what sort of things you need... Nothing special I don't think.

Your threads don't ring true, it seems to me. You claim you were told by your armourer to buy a black handguard off the internet as there weren't enough for everyone; possibly a wind-up you've been taken in by, but definitely not a serious instruction. Now you say you don't know what to pack in your webbing. Are you a trained soldier or not? In the last month or so you've asked some incredibly bone questions; is this some extended sequence of wahs or is this worrying cluelessness genuine?

I suggest that if you are really having trouble, you speak to someone at your unit. Certainly we can't help you as you belt order will be governed by local SOPs, which having left basic four months ago (as you claimed elsewhere) I'm surprised you haven't grasped yet.

Fill your pouches and pockets with dog sh1t. At least by drawing the flies you won't be totally useless.

Does that sound even vaguely like a sensible thing to think? Considering the official insurance doesn't cover you if you modify your helmet or armour to the smallest degree, do you think it will cover you if your weapon is cobbled together with bits bought from walt.com?

Use some initiative. You're deploying to the desert and you haven't mentioned water. Suncream might be an idea if you're fair-skinned. A shamagh to keep the dust out of your gob when working near helos.

Your unit will know what you're doing, where and all that; they are probably the best people to ask. Best of luck to you; just stop flapping ;)

My bold. Did somebody tell you that or are you actually quoting the small print on the contract?

Its been discussed repeatedly elsewhere and I believe the sum of the total is that its bollocks. The exception is that should, for example, the CBA that you are wearing not be issue and contribute to your death then you might receive a limited payout or none. But we're talking contributory here, e.g. if your personal body armour stangles you in your sleep. If you happen to be wearing it and you get shot in the head, no issues. If you happen to be wearing it and the bullet passes through it, its probably OK for the payout also.

Fair enough; I bow to someone who knows better than I. I think my original point that buying rifle parts off the internet for use on ops is a bad idea stands though.

So if it wasn't for insurance reasons why did RMAS ban helmet mods then? Assuming they banned them at all and I'm not being wound up?

PM me the name of the Armourer who told you to do that or at least his unit. He is seriously failing your Bn if he is telling people that. If you are Teeth Arms and going on tour (Herrick 10) you will all have one. We've just recieved 600 quadrails, so even the chefs have them.

All inf bns have an SOP kit list that should be on your Platoon notice board. It shouldn't differ from the kit you v'e been carrying on PDT. Assuming you are doing PDT.
