Aerial Camera?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hoping someone knows what this is! Someone on another forum I'm part of got this through Freecycle and wants to know what it actually is and if it's an aerial camera, where it would have been used etc

It has the arrowhead symbol, bears the legend Camera Type F60 14A/3541. There's no NSN so assume it must be of some age. It's obviously a 35mm camera and has a bulk magazine.

here's a link to some pics:-

Hope someone can help. I'll put this in Aviation as well.

  2. Hang on link not working, I'll try and sort it!

  3. Looks as though it could be a 35mm "copy" camera.

It would probably be used to make copies of larger format negatives (9" x 9") for archive purposes, or for map making.

Another use could be for taking photos of a radar screen, such as H2S, on board a long-range recce aircraft, such as the old Victor recce variants...
