Adopt a Regiment

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Is there an organised way for civvies (or veterans) to 'adopt' a regiment?

I have had a quick look on the internet and cannot find one.

Basically the idea would be that an individual or organiseation would, in return for a monthly fee, be entitled to visit the regiment or attend some functions or receive info about the regiment.

This could be a great way to raise funds for the association as, due to ongoing operations there will be a great need for their services. It would also help to 'build bridges' with the community.

I don't know how practical it would be, but if we could get schools, businesses and other organiseations involved, as well as individuals, it could be greatly beneficial to the regiments and those who are helped by the associations.

Any thoughts from the great and good of arrse?

edited to add. In the interest of full disclosure, I am a civvie!
