Adams and Storey bomb attack.

It is obvious that facts sit uneasily with @NI-EX-MEDIC .

She appears to be claiming the higher ground by attempting to appear unbothered, despite biting every piece of bait I dangle in front of her.

Look, princess I’m not going to get drawn into your bizarre assertion that you were a class 1. You can barely string a sentence together & your spelling ability is primary school level at best. Seriously- your wannabe, bluffer, nuisance, cnut like behaviour is hard to read.

Why don’t you go and offer some more invaluable analysis over on the “free tommy Robinson thread”
Which I'm sure has absolutely no juvenile Islamophobic undertones.

You can tell you are a loyalist...

The season of ridiculous IEDs just keeps on rolling.

So a lad claims to have found a hoax device at the side of the road yesterday. Instead of phoning the police, he took it home and tried to turn it into a quirky log burner.

PSNI since recovered it much to his dismay.

Joking aside.

This clearly wasn’t a dissident operation.

Considering the majority of their senior leadership are former provos from the 90s era, their names & addresses are almost certainly in a file in Sinn Fein HQ. Not a boat they want to rock.

Besides- a shitty firework to take out Gerry, behave.

Although not amazingly skilled they do have the capability to plant effective UVIEDs

An “up and under” being their cowardly MO of choice. Essentially a small IED, usually packed into a Tupperware-style container that is attached to the underside of a car, usually just beneath the driver’s seat, assuming the driver was the target, and designed to explode while the car was in motion.

It is affixed to the bodywork by a strong magnet and detonated by a mercury tilt switch, whenever the car was driven on to a gradient.

It was the easiest device to place and it took just a few furtive moments to begin the process of hurling someone into the big RV in the sky.

PIRA proved not only was it an effective weapon that invariably killed but it required little in the way of investment: a few ounces of explosive, some basic intelligence work, one person and a getaway car with driver. One additional bonus was that the hardest bit, placing the bomb, could be done in the middle of the night when the risks of being caught were minimal.

This was nothing more than a lone moron and some left over fireworks.

The days of the DR's being in any way scared of the Provos are long gone.

DR leadership are the remnants of PIRA.
Which, in turn, would further suggest that senior members of Sinn Fein would know the names of many of the dissidents. They may not be scared but they are weary.
Hence why not one credible attempt on life has occurred to any Sinn Fein members life.

Besides it doesn't matter what you call them: all that matters is that they continue to get pounded into oblivion. They largely eat themselves alive due to a high number of informers anyway.

The provos themselves are dissidents. A Russian doll of terror groups. The pathway to these current active DR’s is a muddy path that leads out of a Sinn Fein garden.. CIRA has been in existence since the mid-1980s after a split from the mainstream PIRA. It was first linked to a number of attacks in the 1990s after the IRA declared a “complete cessation of military operations”. The Continuity IRA has since splintered into a number of factions.

The Real IRA emerged after a PIRA “general army convention” in late 1997 and a failed attempt to overthrow the Adams-McGuinness leadership in a row over their peace strategy. The following year, dissidents were behind a series of bomb attacks before and after the Belfast Agreement, including the Omagh bomb in 98.

New IRA declared its existence in a statement in July 2012. It is an amalgamation of smaller dissidents as well as the Real IRA & continuity IRA. This coalition of dissidents is commanded by an army council that contains former PIRA members.

Given the number of Roman Catholics in Northern Ireland that works out at about five of them per tribe.

The Dissidents don't need to kill Provos. They know PSF/PIRA can't actually do much to them or they will run the risk of getting caught (again) in a ceasefire breach, have to admit not everything was decommissioned etc etc. Basically the DR's know the Provos can't really do anything about them, but every now and then they need to remind the Provos of that too.

I realised just how far the worm had turned as early as 2004 when I watched 3 members of RIRA kick the site out of a senior member of Derry City PIRA in broad daylight, in a public place in the middle of the Creggan because he had annoyed them the week before.

Besides it doesn't matter what you call them: all that matters is that they continue to get pounded into oblivion. They largely eat themselves alive due to a high number of informers anyway.
To be realistic about it they are no more riddled with informers than PIRA were, there are just less of them in total which makes the informers more effective. I am not convinced at all we are anywhere near 'pounding them into oblivion'.
