A thank you to an un-named medic

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I had a strange experience at the wekend during a Highland Games. I had an African woman throw herself at my feet and repeat "Thank you" over and over again.

Her daughter explained that she (the mother) was from Sierra Leone and had seen my medals and "knew I was a soldier". (not so sure about that!!) Once the mother had calmed down and stood up I saw the most horrific facial scaring, with a really nasty "smile" where she had been slashed with a machete.

Turns out she had been hacked and left for dead by rebels but a British patrol had found her and a medic had saved her life. I do not have any other details.

She wanted me to say thank you to that medic! Obviously I have no idea who it was, so I hope someone here might know and pass on her thanks. She said she will never forget you and that she prays for you every day.

I hope this finds the person it needs to.
