Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I've spent tonight looking through loads of paperwork given to my partner by her father before he died a few years ago.
All his army pay books are there and i was looking though the list of dates and places he served.

From 23 May 1940 to 4 June 1940 he was with the BEF. Now i think that the 4th of June was the day the last man was evacuated from Dunkirk so it looks as though he may have been involved in that.

He then served in the UK for a while till 20 June 1944 when he is shown as being with MWE untill 5th December 1945.

Anyone know what MWE is? He was RE if thats any help.
