A question about Football Home Shirts

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Been asked a trivia question today about a team that is allowed to wear their home strip at any football ground, the feeling its military/Royal connected

    Anyone know ?
  2. IIRC its Notts county as founder members of the footy league?
  3. I'm almost sure its Preston North End, as winners of the first football league.
  4. checked up a bit more, apparently it used to be two teams,
Reading [for their Royal connection] and Preston North End, for winning the league and cup double in 1889 but I think PNE was a short term thingy and no longer 'applies'
  5. Cheers for that, the guy that posed the question was looking for Reading

However I couldn't find a lot on that and they do have away shirts

Anyway the Royal connection is a bit week really, it was because they were formed in the Royal County of Berkshire
  6. Sheffield F.C.?
The oldest club in the world.
