A good read

Just finished reading Quartered Safe Out Here by George Macdonald Fraser, its a recollection of his time in Burma as a nineteen year old infantryman with the 14th Army, superb book well worth reading if you want a insight into what fighting the japs was all about, some of his views in the epilogue on modern day Britain written fifty odd years are also quite interesting.
Yes. A cracking book - although I found the vernacular a bit wearisome at first. But, as you say, a gripping read.

I'm now reading 'The Junior Officers' Reading Club' by Patrick Hennessy. So far so good!
Just finished reading Forgotten Voices of D-Day by Roderick Bailey.

A collection of rereminiscencesy by ordinary servicemen on that day, its a very good read.
