I will just post the pics here, any questions I will be only too glad to answer. I am not even close to an expert or an authority on the subject, but I hope it helps you out. I always start with the eyes myself. Also, I struggled with taking pics, and still do but have got better.

Finally, the finished product on it's base

Final addition to this was this beautiful little sculpt of a Mjolnir ( Thor's hammer a very common piece of jewellery amongst the Norse people) pendant done by Steve Readdie of Reedees Miniatures limited the pics don't do it justice but here's a picture of one with pics of the finished result which sets the figure off a treat. I did move the braids after the pics to keep them in line with the movement of the hammer

If the figure is in 'fight' mode, would his pupils not be dilated?

Not a criticism but possibly something to note when doing eyes.

Purely academic: if he's SBS, shouldn't there be a black rectangle over his eyes?

This was done in acrylics, however, I normally use oils these days. The pupils are somewhat dilated, possibly could have gone more
