Exclusive: I was sexually abused as a child, reveals George Galloway

Jul 20 2009 By Dave King

GEORGE GALLOWAY has revealed that he was a victim of sex abuse as a child.

In today's Record, the controversial MP talks for the first time about his ordeal at the hands of a twisted school janitor - and backs Government plans to vet anyone whose work brings them into contact with children.

He also slams opponents who insist that they won't pay the vetting charge to prove they are not paedophiles. Galloway reveals that his abuser was in a position of trust.

And he says that if vetting laws had been in place, the pervert would not have had access to any child.

Galloway said: "I'm not saying the abuse which happened has ruined my life or anything.

"But it did affect my life, and not in a good way and neither in ways I care to rehearse before you.

"Every time a Soham murderer or a Dunblane Thomas Hamilton emerges, I die a little inside as I remember that dirty old man in Dundee driven by the same perverted interest in sexually attacking kids.

"And the fact that I did not speak up - I told no one of what happened to me.

"All I feel is ashamed, though I was the victim and he the aggressive predator."

The MP thinks his abuser is now dead.

But in typical Galloway fashion, he adds: "I hope he's roasting in the hell fires."

Backing the vetting proposals, Galloway concludes: "If just one child is spared the horrors of sexual abuse by someone they had a reason to trust, then it would be worth it.

"Trust me. I know."

Just a pity AIDS hadn't been invented when George was getting the warm pork salad. Hence he survived the abuse and those images of the canute wearing a leotard will haunt me till the day I die.

Would you ?
Well, believe it or not, I did. Actually, it was a local creep who grabbed my twin sister and mauled her pretty badly. She was only saved from the unspeakable by a group of lads who chased yon fella off.

I paid him a little visit while on leave when I was 22.

I've called Galloway a pain in the arse before now, this story has made me feel guilty. On reflection, no it hasn't. :D

Huntley was a janitor at a different school to Holly & Jessica's. They trusted him because he was the boyfriend of a teaching assistant that they knew and liked.

This rule would not have prevented the awful events in Soham. It's just another piece of badly drawn law, which will penalise the innocent and allow the guilty to continue in their wicked ways.

And remember that two of the policement who worked on the case were later convicted of child porn offences. They wouldn't even have had to be ON this database!!!!

If I remember correctly Huntley had never been convicted of an offence anyway. The upset was over the non-sharing of intelligence between police services. A CRB check would have allowed Huntley to work with children.
This law is likely to have a detrimental effect on literacy in this country. Authors have been told that they must get CRB clearance before they can go into a school to read their books to the pupils and encourage literacy. Since that costs £60 it would mean that an author, who is giving his time for free, would have to pay £60 either at each separate school or at least education authority. Authors going into schools do so accompanied by members of staff at all times so why the need for a CRB check in the first place?
We must protect our children but are CRB checks necessarily the way? If you've never been convicted of an offence or given an official caution then the check will be clean whether you're a raving paedophile or not. Surely it would be much better to strengthen the head teacher's / governor's ability to get rid of suspect staff quickly?

I believe the headteacher of the school Huntley worked at did admit that they had done no pre-employment references or other checks, but that's down to the incompetence of an individual, and again, this database would not have stopped Huntley either getting that job, living with his girlfriend, or doing what he did to two of her pupils.

But if his girfriend hadn't been giving him false alibis for rapes then he WOULD have been stopped and the girls would still be alive, how come the bitch was never charged for that?
