Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi,

Im trying to look for any help on official routes i can take to find out any information if someone was actually in the army or not.
I have missed information and just wandering if someone could make any sense of it.

  3. On its third thread now...
  4. I have tried to find out information from another forum but i was just taken the piss out off. Surely its an offence to immperonate being in the army. He is going around our home town making out he is a war hero, his story changes every month when he is questioned about stuff. But imjust trying to find out if there is any way of gaining anything on official paper to confirm?
  5. You've already been told there's no way in hell you'll get an official confirmation of anyone's career from the MOD, unless it's your own number.

Since you've ignored that, I'll give you one big pointer. Since I'm bored I've made some enquiries for you. If you call (0)20 7839 1377 and ask for Liz, she's in a position to find out pretty much anything about Army records for you. Don't let the switchboard monkey fob you off - Liz is the boss and they hate letting people talk to the manager there. Just keep insisting you need to speak to her.

  6. Hang on. Why have you given our number out on a public forum?

    Liz at Buck HQ?
  8. Oh you know her too?
  9. Don't take no for an answer, I know what they're like down there. It's meant to be a round-the-clock department but they're lazy, lazy people. Liz is the one who'll get them off their idle arses and find the information you want.

In the meantime, perhaps you need to take a similar approach: the next time this guy starts spinning yarns, just interject with:
'no you didn't', 'that's not true', 'that never happened though, did it?', and of course, 'liar liar pants on fire!'.

Challenge him to a fight if that's what it takes to prove he's a big cowardy-custard.
  10. Does Wanderer drive a JCB? Because that hole she's digging is getting deeper and deeper. Perhaps you should consider David Cameron as your next port of call? He may have the push with the MOD, to get you the info you need ASAP?

Not really, it was just a stab in the dark.

Met her just the once, but know of her by reputation. Still going strong, I hear.
  12. Son don't let these guys give you a hard time. I have just checked your friends details and he is the real deal. He joined REME and worked on Helicopters. He later transferred to be a Tailor and made Ceremonial Uniforms for HRH Prince Edward of the Royal Wessex Yeomanry.

Apparently you've been running about claiming to be a WO2 and causing friction at your work, you unprincipled charlatan. You should be ashamed of yourself.
