Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

  1. Hi,
Does anyone know how long after signing for 8 year bonus does it take to go in your account? Does it go in with normal wage or seperate? Also how much is it approximately? Signed up to Army in 2004 and took 5 year money.
  2. Assuming you joined after 1 Apr 04, you would have got £5,500 (before tax) at 5yrs and would be due another £2,500 (before tax) after 8yrs. if you joined before 2 Apr 04 then your 5yr money would have been £3,000 and your 8yr money would now be £5,000. And, for the purposes of the Commitment Bonus, joining date is the later of either your date of enlistment or you reaching the age of 18.

JSP 754, Annex A to Chapter 7 Section 2 refers.

Note also that a years' return of service applies to either of these second payments - i.e. you will be asked to pay back any second payment if you hand in your notice within a year of claiming it.
