  1. Hullo.
I'm trying to do a bit of research for a Friend of mine regarding his Uncle who served in WW2 with 756 Field Engineers. Basically he came ashore at Normandy and fought his way through Northwest Europe, ending up in Poland. I'm trying to find out where 756 fought throughout the Northwest Europe Campaign. I've e-mailed the RE Museum in Gillingham, but they've replied saying my enquiry could take "months". Can anyone here help me? Any information gratefully received.
  2. Just had a wee look, they were part of 49 (West Riding) Infantry Division.

Most of the High Numbered Sapper Squadrons were only formed for the war, some were only formed for a particular Operation then disbanded so their History was short lived and most didn't keep a war diary.

You could PM Swordman (top of the Sappers page stickies) that old boy was there at the time.

Here is what I found 756 Fld Coy RE
  3. Are you still looking for info on 756 Field Engineers Company. I have my fathers memoirs which gives lots of details.
