The Pentagon Has Prepared a Cyberattack Against Russia

The Pentagon Reportedly Has A Secret Plan To Launch A Cyber Attack On Russia Over Future Election Interference

So I do think that while I am voting Tuesday morning along with millions of other Americans. The US military will be having a go at not only Russia but China as well in the new Cold War. Sadly this is the kind of stuff we will never hear about until well past the event if ever. Anybody care to post their views on the likelihood of cyber strikes happening while we bullshit on Arrse and bitch about the Donald?

It might help if the US didn't have a completely stupid and unprotected (cyber wise) voting system.
A ten year old could abuse your voting machines, let alone a nation state.
There is plenty of good info on how poor the current security is.

As for your initial post, why on earth would anyone think anything other than the US having such plans in place?
I sincerely hope your spooks WILL be at least trying to minimise the interferance this time, the messing started before Trumps election.

The 'beauty' of cyber warfare is attribution. Despite CSI in all its incarnations, it's generally considered difficult to provide credible attribution (needed to bring most Western democracy's population on board) in a timely manner (without compromising your own capabilities). If the US military's 'secret plan' is already available in 'open source' format, Russia can quickly make a credible case to its people that the evil West has attacked the Motherland, and in order to maintain security, a credible military response is justified.

Our cyber spooks were under a slightly different chain of command with rules to match. In a way the Donald has made it easier for them to take the gloves off.

What Do the Trump Administration’s Changes to PPD-20 Mean for U.S. Offensive Cyber Operations?

That is of course if the lights are still on........both sides can cause their opponents civilian populations to go back to the Stone age rather quickly. The difference is that the Russians will have their Vodka to comfort them while I am stuck with Monopoly....

Get yourself a supply of batteries, phone power packs, candles and matches, I sense a money making opportunity approaching ;)

When you go to vote have a look at the voting machines where you vote. Have a look to see if there is a totally open way to introduce flaws into the system.
Slime you are correct, it would be to easy to hack them. But nobody in my own country knows we exist until the results are posted on the news that evening. I don't think I have to worry about the Russian Cyber hackers going after the black hole that is Wyoming. Actually this would be a state to avoid, as the consequences for hacking here could be pretty nasty and get a sharp response from the Pentagon.

Already got that, I really need a supply of decent porn and more booze. Of course customs (SWMBO) might take a dim view to that back up plan. Looks like Monopoly and Powerade it is.

Wine isn't that just fermented warm grape juice??

I need a few more bottles of Bourbon, Scotch, and Whiskey....oddly enough whenever I do seem to get something new my dad and brother find out and help me drink it...
You've got plenty of time. According to you and your stupid way of writing down dates, and you being a mong, it's happening in June next year.

With the threat of Russia turning off the lights in the USA I wonder if it was such a good idea for the white Americans to have killed so many of the natives who were there first, they had a pretty good idea about living off grid, plus had a decent smoke powered communication system :)
