Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

A British soldier has been killed in an explosion in southern Afghanistan.

He was serving with the Brigade Reconnaissance Force, 5 Regiment, Royal Artillery, a Ministry of Defence spokesman said.

"Two other British soldiers were also injured as a result of the blast," he added.

Next of kin have been informed, and no more details are being released at this time.

A British soldier has been killed in an explosion in southern Afghanistan.

British soldier in action in Helmand ProvinceHe was serving with the Brigade Reconnaissance Force, 5 Regiment, Royal Artillery, a Ministry of Defence spokesman said.

"Two other British soldiers were also injured as a result of the blast," he added.

Next of kin have been informed, and no more details are being released at this time.

The soldiers were conducting a tactical patrol to the north of Sangin, Helmand Province, on Tuesday when the vehicle they were travelling in was caught in an explosion.

All three soldiers were taken to the field hospital at Camp Bastion, UK forces main base.

Despite emergency surgery one of the soldiers died as a result of his wounds.

The other two soldiers are receiving medical treatment and their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
