That's the 50mm Bushmaster chain gun intended for the US Next Generation Combat Vehicle which is the Bradley replacement, currently due about 2035. Ish.

No plans to retrofit them to the Bradley, although there is an upgrade planned for a revised Bradley turret fitted with the 30mm gun found on Strykers

50mm will use about a 3rd more space than 25mm and 30mm. Therefore the troops will have a 3rd less rounds in the turret and it increases the strain on the logistical chain.

Is that extra capability required? Or is it just someone getting an erection at the thought of a bigger gun?

The vehicle in this picture did not enter service in the IDF.
IDF uses the Israeli 60 mm mortar, other than that where did they use 50 or 60 mm?
