50k to stay

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. The Government are offering 50k handouts for SNCOs in the SAS to stay put.
Large numbers are leaving to take up with Private security firms where they can earn up to £1000 a day.
    Worrying times no doubt.
  2. Maybe the bonus' should be extended to recruiting and retention of soldiers across the board both in the regular army and TA.
  3. Would that 50k be before or after tax? Work with aircrew in fj world and some are offered similar amounts, but our Gordon takes a huge lump of the sum before it hits their bank account.
  4. ...and puts you in the 40% Tax bracket!!!
  5. It always made me laugh that our LSSA bounty of £1000 ended up as £600 odd after tax & national insurance was taken off. These people have no shame!!!
  6. Read in the Mail on Sunday that they were allowing Soldiers from Para, RM and SAS to take a "Gap Year" and then making it easier than usual for them rejoin 12 months later at the same point they left at. So they can PVR do a year in Iraq, bring back £50k, wack it down on a house, rejoin where they left and get their pensions after 22yrs to pay the mo=rtgage each month.

Nice work if you can get it!
  7. ^ Too bloody right, who wouldn't? You would be mad not to.
