Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Just come back from the National Arboretum, where I paid particular attention to the 49 memorial.

I've previously visited the ones at Fontenay le pesnil and Ypres.

I believe their is one in Arnhem - to celebrate its liberation, which I intend to visit shortly.

Have I missed any? I believe their is a roll of honour in Lincoln cathedral.
  2. It's in St Eusebius' Church. You can't miss the church and the plaque IIRC is to the right of the door as you come in the nave.

It's worth a trip up the tower as you get a very good view of the bridge. There is also a useful pre- and post-war town plan on the wall up there that I haven't seen anywhere else.

And are you aware of the Polar Bear Association?
  3. No I wasn't, many many thanks for the links
