49 PARA, WALTS and EBAY

www.49para.info - The website.... :)

Its just hit me, that maybe its time to play all the Walts at their own game, how about the ones of us with Ebay accounts get uploading some 49 Para stuff, and see who can get the most hits on Ebay with it? If the item sells then give the money to RBL?

I will try and find a "49 Para" item in my flat, and upload it over the weekend, any one else wanna play "The Walt selling game"

yeah, why not - sounds a giggle

but youll have to put a lot of spin in the story to sell it - and sell it worldwide for the benefit of spam walts

Awesome idea, there are several here that possess the literary genius to write up any old tat as genuine SF kit.

What about an ARRSE official "Member" certificate for those Walts that needs another piece of proof on the wall to go with their various SF pass certificates........................ :?

Actually, I think they should sell 49 Para t-shirts in the ARRSE shop.

I'm sure they'd go like hot cakes.

Only if it was Aggresive Salmon, Maroon is a bit dark for 49ers (Apparently) Or at least that's what their CO told me the other night when I bumped into him at the Wheatsheaf.

Right here goes if the web name is still available I will purchase it tomorrow, and start to work on a basic website, but help would be good? So can I have a list of people that would like to help in the background with 49 Para?

49 Para can trace its ancestry back to the founding of the Airborne brotherhood in 1940, when Churchill called for the establishment of "A coprs of men, scared of nothing, to jump from the sky and do bloody murder with my enemies." 49 Para was raised the very next day by Colonel W.P.G.G Mitt-Yea DSO MC and Bar, Legion D'Honneure, a founder member of the SAS and personal friend of David Sterling.
After advertising in Survive the Hun Invasion a popular magazine of the day, the ranks quickly filled with recruits, many of which brought with them their own weapons and uniforms.

Despite intensive training every Tuesday night in a scout hut in New Malden and intensive manoeuvres with their affiliated cavalry regiment the Legion of Frontiersmen Churchill's elite forces never actually saw combat in WW2. Despite this fact, they were heavily decorated, and at the end of the war boasted no less than twelve VC winners within their ranks.

An unblemished service record has followed 49 Para since its creation, and its roll of honour speaks for itself:

Malaya, Korea, Suez, Borneo, Aden, Cyprus, NI, the Falklands Bosnia, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, and of course Iraq and Afghanistan: 49 Para have conducted operational parachute deployments into each. Name one action of note over the last 60 years, and 49 Para were at the forefront: They won the day at Goose Green, stormed Tumbledown, cleared the Iranian Embassy, held the Mahdi Army at bay in Al Amara and fought the Taliban to a standstill in the Tora Bora and Musa Qala.

Today 49 Para has a thriving Regimental Association which attends parades all over the country.

if you need any more information on 49 para, as a serving tpr, i am more than willing to give any info required

And although i have only been in 49 for 5 years, since passing out in 2004, i don't have much up to date information i can release (opsec and all that).

However i was recruited as a 17 year old, whilst working for MI8 after being noticed for the prictine state of my kit, in the Falklands war of 1989. Due to my family links to the Army (All served in 22 SAS, dating back to 1847) it was an offer i couldn't refuse. After saving the Ghukas single handedly from the Argies (of course, they were being assisted by nazi's) i won the first of my vc's, but since it was a top secret mission, and i hadn't officially joined up yet, i'm not allowed to wear it, or have it mention on any records.

If i can help with anymore, please let me know, or join me for a few beers (i can drink 3 pints and not be drunk, you know).

I'm also cock of the town in Hereford.

(edited to add more glory to 49, not coz i spell like a spaccer)
