30mm Rarden Shells with Dummy Heads

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. All, I'm after 2 (or 3 if I can get them) 30mm Rarden shells with dummy heads fitted. It doesn't matter what colour the heads are as they will be repainted, However the shell body needs to be complete, i.e. no FFE drill holes by the percussion cap if possible.

Thanks in advance, I'm willing to pay sensible money.

  2. "May I remind you that it is an offence to leave this or any other range with any live rounds empty cases.. unless you want to flog them on Ebay, in which case crack on". We've aslways had to account for them (including as many as possible of the ones flattened down-range during OBEX), so I would be surprised if they were readily available.
  3. Ah.. bugger.. oh well.. Had a feeling that the ole' range declaration may come into affect but I've seen a few before on eBay and other ordnance websites.. just thought that I'd ask on here .. bound to be one or two rascals that may have appropriated one or two...

  4. There's an Army Surplus place in Exeter with various bits and bobs including shells of one kind and another, plus a deactivated Bren, for sale. Might be worth giving them a ring.

Rarden rounds fired and refitted sold without FFE certs are fairly common. I picked up one at Newhaven fort in the gift shop when escorting a junior school trip around.
  6. I'm pretty sure you were allowed to 'lose' a percentage of brass. I remember the Colour Boy saying that we could have souvenirs as soon as he'd made sure that he had the quantity he needed to hand in. The AQMS would only give you an FFE if you'd stuck a capbadge on the thing.

To the OP- have a look at the link if you have no joy here.
