Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Am starting to reload for the SMLE, No4 & No5 and also the 7.92 Mauser.

Am looking for a recommended powder that will be good enough for both. Been using Reloader 7 but apparently that's no longer obtainable

    Any advice gratefully received.
  2. Vit N140
  3. Agree.
  4. If you only own one rifle powder, that's the one. Good for most things from 55gn .223 up to some rather hot stuff.

  6. Cracking anyone got any general data for .303 & 7.92 ?

.303 are 180-185gr bullets and can't remember off hand abotu the 7.92 but will update later.

Yes I can sort out some loads for you! pm me an email address, they will be from the Sierra cd
  8. For Vit 140, go to the Lapua.com website and you can download their complete reloading guide as a pdf.

Bear in mind for 303 that the guide is for both Enfields and Mausers so for an Enfield stay near the bottom of the range. I use 41 grains in my P14 but wouldn't be keen on going much above 36 -37 in an Enfield.

  9. I used to use 39 grains of N140 behind the S&B 180 grain .311 steel jacketed bullet.
  10. N 140, best thing since sliced bread.
  11. Why not. I have some very good .303 loads with it. (The Hogden variety.)
