22yo Joiner wanting to join

#1
Hi there, first timer here.

Im 22year old and I've been working as a joiner since I left school at 16, serving a 2year apprenticeship earning a NVQ level 2 in carpentry and joinery. I'm very good at my job and have always been in work since I left school. I've worked on house building, schools and hospitals.

So why do I want to join the army? Because I'm also self-employed and the company's I work for I mean nothing to them and although I love my trade, I'm not so keen on my job.

So here's my question...
Which would be the best for me to join?
I wanted to join the royal engineers, would the accept my qualification, or how will it work?
I went to a local army careers office and he informed me that they are not recruiting and no one knows when they will be again.
He also told me about a pioneer which sounds good...
Do I join up as a pioneer?
What would be the best for me todo?
Also is the TA a good way to get in?

Sorry these might be stupid questions but someone help me out please.
Thanks in advance.
