2020 United States presidential election

We don't have Sterling here, besides that I'm married and not allowed money.

Seriously though, all I'm saying is that the American electorate can be a very fickle bunch and full of surprises. Sanders did very well down in Arizona with the left leaning electorate and I really wouldn't go writing him off yet.

He has a certain appeal to the blue haired, pink hat wearing SJW who prefer him over Biden who they see as just another member of the establishment and so it'll be more of the same old same old as far as they're concerned.

I have a DiL who is a dyed in the wool Democrat, she's just one of the millions of young people of voting age who prefer Sanders over Biden.
I'm not disagreeing with you - we have millions of utterly useless blue haired cnuts here too. It's just that we have a greater number of normal people who can see what a disaster socialism would be.

The answer to winning an election is not to make the minority demographic that votes for you anyway love you even more.

You must appeal to the swing voters to win. Which Sanders absolutely does not.

Four years ago I annoyed an American friend by asking why, in a nation of about 350 million, Clinton and Trump were determined to be the best choices for the top job. I admit I did it mostly mostly to wind him up (it worked) but this time around the probable contest between Biden and Trump is beyond parody, beyond satire and almost beyond belief.
I’ve looked at America as the largest social experiment ever undertaken and been fascinated by the evolution of a nation but now my fascination has turned to despair and an increasing belief that the land of the free and the home of the brave has failed.

To be fair, I don't blame you for not talking that bet on. If you took it on with the bookies, £50 would win you £800. Much better value.

My view is that if you put a tenner on Sanders to win...

... You'd lose a tenner. Old one, I know.

It's not just the Blue haired types or the swing voters that are the problem though, then we have the so called Sanctuary States and non Sanctuary States such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Utah, Vermont and Washington.

All issuing State driving licences or State ID which in States that requires ID to vote allows people who are in the country illegally to vote and only two or three of the above require ID to vote. I didn't mention D of C because although not a State they still issue Driving licences to illegals.

The Democrats are against voters having to produce ID to vote, why do you think that is I wonder. The above States are already breaking Federal law by being Sanctuary States and issuing driving licences, so make what you will of that when it comes to voting and who they allow to vote and then count those votes in the returns.

Sanders is very pro Sanctuary State and cities.

I wouldn't be too sure about that, Come Saturday there is the South Carolina caucus and he is starting to appeal to the African American voters, they make up 60% of that State with his "Medicare for All" which would do away with health insurance. That's a pipe dream but it is going to appeal to people.

It's also not the young he appeals to either, he's also starting to appeal to the infrequent voters as well. Hey I'm not saying he'll get the nomination, I'm just saying don't write him off yet is all.

It's not that I don't want to take the bet, as I said, I'm married and don't have any money to bet with.

Not a problem, just swap that California ID for a Wyoming ID, job done. That's where it all falls down.

No, in order to be issued a license in Wyoming, one has to provide proof of citizenship or legal permanent residency. So if you were to apply for a DL here you would have to provide a copy of your naturalization paperwork in order to get a license in this state.

Well with Liz now dropping out I guess the natives won’t have a chance at one if their own being the next president.....So much for the woke/millennial/snowflake etc generation having a say, no matter how you slice they’ll have four more years of an old white man at the top, so sad......
