2020 United States presidential election

I hope he does win, the meltdown and tears on here will be a joy to see.
No tears from me, the orange man is pure comedy gold and I can look across the border and laugh.

...and I agree, the Dems are a bunch of idiots, non of those clowns deserve to be elected. Although I would love it if Sanders somehow got elected, the meltdown and tears on here will be a joy to see.

At the end of the day why do you Brits care about who wins or not in the U.S.?

NOYFB - None of your f-king biz. Just like I could't give a toss about who wins in the UK, despite being a UK citizen (as well).
Actually, who's elected as head of a number of countries has a world wide affect. If Corbyn had won instead of Johnson, if La Penn takes France or an extreme Right Winger takes Germany there's a ripple affect.

Personally I find it interesting to see how you all view this upcoming election.

I have just read the previous 4 pages of this thread purely out of interest and curiosity. I'm not big on American Politics, and don't really understand the whole Republican and Democrat thing, pure ignorance and laziness on my part, so a little naive if I'm honest.

I'm not a fan of Donald Trump, but neither am I a fan of any of the potential candidates from either side. Donald is a blagger and a filly buster in my opinion. He is not a great orator as Barrack Obama was, regardless of what he achieved or did not achieve during his presidency, at least I could listen to what he had to say. With Donald I just switch off.

Why does America always seem to choose such old people as Presidential Candidates FFS. They remind me of Statler and Waldorf from the Muppet Show. Do they not have anyone under the age of 50 who is clued up enough to take a crack at it?

I am at a loss to understand why the folk of the good old US of A would support and rally round a bunch of old geriatrics like Sanders and Biden.

So in my uneducated naive opinion, it is going to be Donald Trump to get a second term in office. Whether long term that is the best outcome for the UK and any future Trade Deals who knows.

Either way, I am not convinced any of them could do any better than each other.

Looking at the two Democrat front runners, if either of them manage to oust Trump in November it could be a good bet on if either would manage to last out until the inauguration in January.

With regards to Biden and Sanders, I remember folks laughing at the thought of Trump becoming President so it wouldn't surprise me if either Biden or Sanders were to win.

@redshift " Like I always say, open forum comments from people who don't really have jack sh-it in the matter means f-all."

Which means any comment you make on this subject means nothing because you aren't and never have been an American citizen.

I live in a heavily, heavily democrat area - for years, most have described themselves as 'Moderates' and cringe at Socialism being connected with them. The new norm is 'Its Democratic socialism...its not the same' and 'all communism isn't bad'.

Luckily I think California is much further left than the rest of the country and I still think All Democrats will vote in big numbers for him ( if he gets the nomination) - I still dont see them flipping swing states though.

That reminds me of what happened to the former East German communist party post re-unification. They called themselves the Partei des demokratischen Sozialismus, party of democratic socialism. On closer inspection they were merely communists with a better flavour. The party has since morphed into die Linke, the left. Still communists at heart.
Let the Californians beware. Inflicting misery on themselves is one thing, inflicting on the rest of the nation is something else. But then as has already been implied on this thread, what foreigners (non US citizens) say does not matter.

The only people who didn't think Trump could win were lefties and the MSM in their echo chambers.

Unless the electorate undergoes a seismic shift, Bernie has zero chance.

Yes, I would be willing to bet money on it.

Well put :)

The Democrats really are as retarded as they sound.

After fielding the worst presidental candidate in history, the have learnt precisely nothing and are set to field the one person they could find who is even worse. Unbelievable.

All they have to do is field a relatively normal person, and they'd win. But they are hell bent on selecting a hard-left retard who was dogshit in his heyday, but is now past it and practically on death's door.

Why does the left have such an obsession with self-destruction?
It doesn't help the Democrats when they have idiots like Shaun King running around loose with unbroken fingers so he can tweet his idiocy as he touts for Sanders.

And in case anyone wonders who Shaun King is, he's a white male who "identifies" as black and has been blessed with the nickname "Talcum X"

I've been a GOP voter since the first time I could vote (Reagan in 80). I was gobsmacked the night trump won (and since the Presidential election was a choice between 2 schmucks I refused to vote that year. I will not vote for president this year either

Bernie is way too old
Biden acts like he has alzheimer's already
Lieawatha is too Khmer Rouge with her threats
yet I still dont see trump winning again as it goes against all logic

Ahh Talcum X the faux black man

Agree, well put and I only disagree with the last sentence. It‘s different perspective and there’s some interesting things brought up I’ve not thought of. I’m not a fan of Trump and I’m not even sure he’s the lesser of evils, but the left here has gone so far left it’s scary. I’ll say about this election what I said about the 2016 one, as an American I’m embarrassed that these are the best candidates we can come up with.

This may be not much comfort to you, but Europe is not a lot better and in some cases arguably worse.
Having said that, in the last US election I had the impression that neither the Republicans nor the Democrats wanted to win as they both put forward the worst possible candidates. Although while Trump can be truly cringe worthy at times, I don't think he's all bad. My 10 cents worth (€ or $).
