    Job Role

    Performing 1st Line Maintenance (FLM) and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities for our various telecoms customers, including London Underground, as well as providing installation and commissioning of small works projects in the UK. This involves working on a shift rota that can deliver the service on a 24 x 7 x 365 basis with on call commitment.

    Duties & Accountabilities

    * 1st line support and troubleshooting of customer equipment including: Transmission, Mobile networks, Datacomms, Switching equipment, Building Management systems, ADSL/PSTN equipment
    * Configuration and test of wireless access points
    * DC rectifier installation testing
    * Install and testing new analogue and digital circuits
    * Testing and troubleshooting CAT5 structured cabling/ Fibre Optical/ patching
    * Installation and commissioning of small works projects
    * Customer circuit provisioning and end to end testing of Copper & Fibre
    * Onsite management of reported faults on customer premises equipment
    * Investigation of allocated incidents and providing a resolving or escalating within an agreed timescale.
    * Replacement of Berkshire office phones and Avaya VOIP phones
    * Replacement of station and trackside phones, commonly referred to as Weatherproof phones
    * Identification of line faults
    * Repair and replacement of Line cable to and from Line Jack Unit
    * Line side exchange wiring on the MDF frame

    Special Features

    * Must be physically 100% fit and able to pass a medical required to work on London Underground locations.
    * Must be CRB checked or able to pass CRB check (ie no previous convictions)

    Requirements / Competencies

    * Good working knowledge of current Telecoms systems
    * The suitable candidate will possess a sound technical knowledge of several technologies and products and ideally 2 or more of the following: ISAM, Stinger, DSLAM, Wireless, WDM, SDH, Juniper Switch/Router, Cisco Switch/Router, Juniper
    * Sound IT skills including Microsoft products, basic DOS commands virtual terminal software
    * Ability to work and understand new equipment
    * Analytical skills to assist in fault resolution
    * Ability to install and pre-configure telecoms equipment
    * Competent in the use of hand and power tools
