Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. ITN have just reported on the funeral of the 1st female soldier killed in Iraq (Killed 12/11/06).

    Was she not the second?

  2. Does it really matter whether she was the 1st or the 2nd? The fact is her death is a sad loss. RIP.

  3. It does matter that ITN are getting things like that wrong.

  4. R.I.P thoughts are with loved ones.

  5. Comfort to her family and loved ones. RIP.

  6. Stand Down, you will be remembered. My sympathy to the family and friends

  7. Technically the first was an Officer, being a Flt Lt (RAF), but as has been said it is still just as sad.

    RIP

  9. No. I sem to recall the first was a RMP Sgt about 18 months ago. (Stating the obvious but the Flt Lt = RAF.)

Whatever they were all somebody's daughter / wife / partner or friend.

  10. Whatever. No less of a sacrifice. RIP.

    Agreed,
    RIP Lassie,
My condolences to the family & friends.

  12. RMP lass not result of enemy action.

RAF Flt Lt , therefore, servicewoman not a soldier.

Sharron was technically the first female soldier to be KIA.

Technicalities and semantics that matter not in these tragedies.

    God rest all their souls.
