Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Are any skills needed if you were to join the part of this regiment as a Pioneer that is based at Grantham as part of TA Specialist?

  2. Yes. You need the skill to get over that the fact that the PSI is a cock

  3. And not snigger at baldy the CO

  4. Apart from that any work related skills needed?!

Pie eating and barrier technician 101?

  6. Why do you want to be a Pioneer?

If you want to do Combat Engineering - join the RE.
If you want to go Infanteering - join the Infantry.
If you want to do very little of the above but do gate guard a lot and pick up dead bodies - join the Pioneers.

  11. Thats it mate.Good NCOs and no real leaders

  12. IN REPLY TO THE ORIGINAL POST THERE ARE NO FORMAL SKILLS REQUIRED TO JOIN AND ANY TRAINING WILL BE GIVEN , LOTS OF THE GUYS HAVE GOT GOOD RELEVANT AND RECENT EXPERIENCE OF GOING ON OPS AND THE VAST MAJORITY HAVE DONE THIS WITH REGULAR UNITS RESULTING IN A LOT OF THE TRAINING THE TOMS GET MAKES IT NOT TO DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO 'GET UP TO SPEED' WITH THE REGS WHEN GETTING READY TO GO ON OP'S.

  13. Do they teach you how to use lower case and full stops?
