Up to 16 people have been killed after Israeli commandos stormed an aid convoy sailing to the Gaza Strip, say reports.

Witnesses said the violence happened when Israeli soldiers boarded a Turkish ship that was leading the six-ship flotilla.
They opened fire after passengers attacked them with axes and knives, said Israeli private channel 10 television.
The station did not say whether the dead were passengers or members of the Israeli navy.

Turkey warned Israel of "irreparable consequences" following the deaths and said the incident was "unacceptable".

They were offered berthing in an Israeli port for the cargo to be taken overland into Gaza.
Looks like they refused.
Silly Turkish. Probably should have thought about this.
Doh.

Nothing new about Israel acting like murdering thugs and killing civilians in direct violation of international laws when it suits them.

Yup.
Just like those nice men with their rocket launchers pointed at Israel from Gaza.
Tut.

A Hamas-run organisation send a convoy to annoy the Israelis, and that's exactly what it does. Who'd a thunk it, eh?

Turkey is demonstrating, with every week that passes, that it has very little in common with Europe, and is certainly unfit to be part of the EU - and God only knows, that bar is not set very high...

Well here's a plan for Israel, stop firing Hellfire missiles into busy market places to kill what you think is a terrorist and then just shrugging your shoulders at the dozens of women and children killed in the blast.

1 Kassam rocket wounds an Israeli civ - Oh the outrage.

1 IDF Hellfire missile kills 50 palestinian civilians - Oh well, just collateral damage.

I believe that there is probably more common thinking among European capitals and Ankara regarding Israels's actions against Gaza, the West Bank and the old quarter of Jerusalem than you suggest.
In the ark of history, Israel's actions and positions -especially regarding the settlements- are untenable, and they will reap what they have sown.

But they need it, if they dont all focus there outrage at jews, they would only end up killing each other.

My support, if it matters and it doesn't, is for Israel. At least they have the balls to take action. The US, nor would the UK, do such a thing.

What exactly did they think would happen?
"Lets piss off the Israeli military. They won't do anything"!
Eejits.

Oh yes we have. We just don't leave any evidence.
And more recently than you may think.

Don't be naive. It's the same approach as was successful in the first intifada.

You end up with a fair few dead activists, no (or very few) dead Israelis, and the world's media going "hold on, this is disproportionate". Instant PR win.

Watching the (very shaky) video, it look's like they attacked the S13 (Isreali shakies) commandos with iron bars and supposedly knives while they were roping onto the ship......the Isreali's say someone tried to grab a rifle and that's when the shooting kicked off.

Dumb on both side's it seems.

That contradicts rather nicely with your signature block :D

It all seems deliberately inflammatory on both sides given their entrenched positions.

Another advantage of lessons learned in NI.

Well, the Israeli Trade Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer seems to be implying the IDF soldiers lost control…

'The moment someone tries to snatch your weapon, to steal your weapons, that's where you begin to lose control.'

I guess the relief aid floatila is inflamatory towards isreal as it highlights to the world the human suffering caused by isreals blockade of gaza.

But then again, how are you supposed to commit genocide when them pesky palestinians won't queue quietly for the trains....
