14 week CIC for TA?

Discussion in 'Army Reserve' started by spearhead, Feb 14, 2008.

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. The possibility of a 14 week CIC has been mentioned in the media, leading to flashy headlines about 'half-trained' regular troops fighting the Taliban'.

Other reports seemed to suggest that the 14 week course was aimed for TA personnel to increase training ahead of possible operational deployments.

Does anyone know what the deal is? Is it only for TA? Is it a fast-track for TA personnel before they deploy on operations or simply an option for new recruits?

I would like to do a tour in the autumn time. In preparation for this the 14 week CIC sounds attractive. Would I be eligible even if I had completed the 2 week CIC? Couldn't get much out of my PSAO when I asked but I will do some more digging. In the meantime if anyone has heard any rumours......

I think you'll find that no deisions have ben made yet - but the idea is certainly not dead. If it does go ahead they'll be depending on Volunteers who are fit and motivated, so get on with the Phys :)
