112 Gripes About The French

American information for their troops in France in 1945.

The bit I found fascinating was that the French government paid 850 francs month to all US troops in France in 1945 (outside of any repayment of Lend-Lease), at a time when they were paying their own troops 800 francs a month, reducing to 180 francs after Sept 1945.

Some of the statistics of the cost to France of occupation are eye-opening!

Expecting to see more French bashing, pleasantly surprised to find the opposite.

A very interesting set of facts and figures for that time.

the difference was that in France we were getting rid of the Germans, in Germany we were getting rid of the Nazis

Very interesting, I now have a revised attitude to France during and just after ww2. Still don't like the French though :)
