11,847 days and it all comes to an end

#1
Today i de-kit, 11,847 days or 32 years, 5 months, 7 days will have been completed on my last day of (Fri) 13th April. Has it been fun? Most of the time, has it been educational? Most definitely, will i miss it? I expect so although it is a very different Army from the i joined all those years ago. I will definitely miss the people i have met over the years. Ive now got a job, a house and a new life(?) to look forward to. Why post in the NAAFI you may ask, well the one thing i will most definitely miss is the abuse and banter...............................

A civvy never, an ex squaddie most definitely.

Hope you enjoy civvy street mucker. I'll be a civvy in 14 days time but my paltry 23 years is lacking compared to your service. I'd have stayed longer if the army was any fun these days but it's fucking shit! :-D

Good luck to us both.

CH welcome to the real, and initially scary, world. I left 2010 after 25 years and apart from a short spell of dole like activity have enjoyed every moment. Now on the " circuit" do exactly what I did when I was in for a lot more money. I'm that far back I send my dohbi forward. Good luck mate and all the best for the future.

Sent from my iPad using ARRSE app 'cause I can.

I left twelve years ago after a bit less service but I am still not a civvy, an ex-squaddie through and through though having Albertous junior in green probably helps/continues that.

Seeing as this is the naafi I will return that picture your missus sent me:

Sneaking out under cover of Crimson Hussar's thread, and copping only minor abuse is hardly fair on the rest of us.

So we'll see your departure thread and subsequent slagging in a fortnight then?
Fucking too right you will mucker! The thread title will be along the lines of:

ALL SQUADDIES ARE CUNTS

You'd have got less for murder and the conditions would've been better.
Forelock tugged.

Have you considered joining the TA? They need men like you and your valuable experience.
Probably too young & vigorous for the TA.

Not as gutted as my OC was when i did, he really couldnt believe it which is a bit strange seeing as he wrote the bloody report that year.
We used to have a game of promoting unlikely people to see how many times they would yo-yo up and down between Tpr & LCpl. See McAuslan Lance Corporal for a fictionalised account
