£2.4 billion munitions deal secures thousands of UK jobs

A new £2.4 billion contract to equip UK Armed Forces with essential fire power will sustain 4,000 jobs around the UK over 15 years, Defence Minister Jeremy Quin today announced.

£160 million a year doesn’t sound quite so impressive.

That’s on top of current contracts and does not include capital purchases such as guided weapons and some Engineer natures.

Cost of 5.56mm appox 10p/rd. Cost of 81mm Mor HE approx £80/bomb. It’ll stretch quite far.
