Three pages of building instructions are followed by a brief guide to the soldiers of the Jacobite rising of 1745. This section breaks down into three main sub-sections. These were; Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery. Surprisingly, the Scots were better than the Government troops in all areas except Cavalry! This was apparently caused by the Government forces being employed overseas in Flanders and militia units were used instead of regular troops.
Models include Mounted Officers, Infantry, Grenadiers and Scots a d Hessian troops loyal to the crown. Jacob's forces represented include: Highlanders, Lowland Infantry, Cavalry, French irregular infantry, Irish Piquets, Regular French Infantry and Artillery.
Scenery includes; A Scottish tower-house, highland cottages, trees and tents.
A detailed set of rules, written by Andy Callan features in the last 10 pages of this book. There are also set-ups for battles at Prestonpans 21 September 1745, Falkirk 17 January 1746 and Culloden 16 April 1746.
All in all, this is a great little book, aiming at the beginner/novice end of the partaking market. Detail is clear and concise and instructions are backed up with pictures. Scenery from this and other books in the series can be intermingled to give variations to sites and battles.
