  • PAXBloke, could you please share your experience on this. Does PAX definitely pay for diagnosis of NFCI? Am asking becos have seen some conflicting postings on here by a guy stating PAX insurance had rejected his claim becos his doctor didn't state on the claim form that his NFCI injury is not permanent despite being diagnose with severe cold sensitisation in his feet and moderate in his hands.
Hi, I got medically discharged due to an injury in Afghanistan where I suffered permanent nerve damage to my Femeral and saphenous nerves with disfigurement.

Coming to the end of my claim now just enquiring in general. I have in writing from my surgeon this has resulted Permenant functional limitation.

With 10 units what would you suggest percentage and payout wise would be.

    Cheers

I'm not a member of the claims team nor medically qualified, so cannot even give you a ball park figure on this one beyond the £2,500 per unit members receive for being medically discharged due to a covered condition, but able to take up gainful employment. That would be in addition to any payment for the disability itself. My apologies, PB
Hi I have just taken over conduct of my brother's PAX claim. He suffered a GSW to the wrist in 2013 but for various he didn't progress the permanent disability claim. He's now discovered through the NHS that there is still shrapnel in his wrist which he's been told could require amputation. If this were to happen would he be able to claim for that disability, even though it occurred after 2 years?

Also, do you think it would be wiser to wait for everything to be assessed through the NHS and a final verdict given before recommencing the claim or is it wiser to get cracking and submit to PAX what medical evidence we have and then cross the amputation bridge later (if, god forbid, we get there)? Thank you in advance.

My apologies, I missed this one. You should get the ball rolling as soon as possible. The claims team will pay as the claimant qualifies, rather settle at the end.

Hi paxbloke just wondering if you know anything more about my claim? Last I heard they were still waiting on paperwork but since the claim went in in February I've still heard nothing back.
    Cheers.
Hi I have recently put a claim in and went to my consultant today for loss of hearing. During my time in Iraq I had 15 units. The consultant has said I have loss of hearing at 3000hz and my loss of hearing is 20db. Do you think this would grant a payment. Also if so roughly how much? Would it be £20000 x 15 or would they also divide that with the percentage of disability that I have which is 25%.

Hi Jason, I make a rule of avoiding getting into the medical weeds as I not qualified, but any permanent physical disability caused by an accident is covered under section B. So please make a claim. Regards

I really sorry to hear your news. PAX will cover any permanent physical injury that is the result of an accident. The amount paid will be assessed according to the amount of permanent disability he suffers as a result of the injury to his brain, e.g. the degree of epilepsy. Has he sent in a claim form as yet?

I am proceeding with a claim for an injury of my left leg. I have been offered money for my broken leg and my 7 day stay in hospital.

My compensation amount does not include the operation to put a metal pin in my ankle to fix my ruptured ankle ligament or the stitches and scarring. In relation the break was a minor irritation! Is this usual?

    I have 10 units.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stitches are not covered nor is scarring due to surgery. However, if you have been left with a permanent disability to your ankle then that should be considered under your claim. This will be paid once a prognosis is available - are you at that stage yet or is there still some time to go before you know how much use you will have from the ankle going forward?

    Regards,
