The ability to survive.

Usually broken down into decreasing layers of defence - detection, distraction, deflection, protection.

  • Detection - the ability to remain undetected, hence surviving by not becoming a target.
  • Distraction - the ability to confuse any possible threat (smoke, flares, soft kill defensive system etc).
  • Deflection - the ability to deflect or destroy an incoming threat (e.g. hard kill defensive system or reactive armour).
  • Protection - the ability to withstand the incoming threat (e.g. lots of armour) or wearing a condom while shagging a total munter.
