Like the Atlantic, though much smaller in size, the North Sea is a vast collection of salty water separating Britain from pretty much everything. Most importantly from the French. Although the North Sea has a few large oil and gas fields they’re not big enough to turn our back on the Saudi’s. Development costs for the exploitation of these natural resources exceeded NASA's budget to put a man on the moon [1]. But it's of course debatable which investment is the most useful to the ordinary man filling up at the gas station.

Countries bordering the North Sea include Britain, France, Belgium, Holland, Norway, Denmark and Germany.
